On Saturday 28 February, Councillor Garry Wall launched the Conservative District Manifesto at Central Mid Sussex College. This marked the start of the Team Mid Sussex Campaign. Team Mid Sussex consists of a motivated group of exceptional candidates. All the candidates are proud of our five-year record, and are ready to share the good messages on the doorstep.
The District Manifesto (which will launch in full shortly) will address topics ranging from:
- Local housing
- How to continue growing the local economy
- Fighting for the Mid Sussex Community's interests
The key candidate at the event was Sir Nicholas Soames. Sir Nicholas has served Mid Sussex as its MP since 1997. He has a long record of working hard for his constituency, and of fighting for local issues. He recently led a delegation to meet with Rail Minister Claire Perry. There, he expressed constituent complaints about Southern Railway's recent poor performance.
Sir Nicholas campaigns vigorously to protect Mid Sussex from over-development. He is strongly opposed to a second runway at Gatwick. He has successfully lobbied Ministers to strengthen the Government’s planning reforms. This will protect Mid Sussex’s open spaces and secure infrastructure improvements.
