Around 14,000 schoolchildren are again set to receive supermarket food vouchers to cover the February school holiday. WSCC is providing supermarket vouchers for every child who is eligible for Free School Meals over the half-term. The council has also decided to increase the voucher offer from £15 to £20 over the week-long break, which runs from February 15-19.
The local voucher scheme is the same as the council supplied during the Christmas holidays, when vouchers were distributed to around 14,000 eligible families for the two-week break. The new vouchers will again be distributed through schools, who have been told how to apply, with the council managing the administrative process. Local county councillor Pete Bradbury said “West Sussex County Council is continuing to support families through the current difficult times”.
