Nicholas Soames and a large number of South Eastern Members of Parliament attended a rail summit with Claire Perry MP, the Rail Minister, at Network Rail’s Headquarters at London Bridge on Monday 20th July.
Several of the Members visited the huge works being undertaken at London Bridge Station which will deliver a fantastic result, but in the meantime there are major service problems to be ironed out.
Following the meeting with Executives of the Operating Companies, Network Rail and others, Nicholas Soames said; “I am confident that there will be a much better service in time, but it is not going to happen overnight. I am pleased to hear of the much greater emphasis on customer service and in particular on communication.
“I do not promise anything overnight, but I do believe that the companies are on the right track. The investment that the nation is making in our railways is enormous and the benefits will come.”
Nicholas Soames raised a large number of issues particularly relating to East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, which were noted.
